5305 Module 3:
Designing a Digitally Based Instructional Unit
Reflection - Content Curation for a Digitally Based Instructional Unit
The only learning outcome that this assignment didn’t address is ”Formulate strategies for obtaining students’ views on their use of and feelings about digital tools and resources in learning and assessment.”
The Pinterest assessment piece didn't necessarily enable me to design digital resources to use in an instructional setting; however, it did provide a space for me to organize digital resources to construct a fully online lesson.
It also provided a map to unfamiliar lessons, resources, and activities that I am now able to use as activities/assessment pieces in the future.
If I taught adults, I would use this as an assignment or assessment of concepts learned based on learning outcomes. For example, I'd have my students create a different board for each learning outcome and find or create pins for each board similar to the Treasure Hunt assignment.
Most importantly, this is assessment was enjoyable and sparked my curiosity in terms of content curators and the various algorithms used by different social media platforms. I had not used my Pinterest account for several years so it was neat to go back what I was aiming for in the future.
This enhanced my previously created portfolio with the opportunity to create an additional artifact that I can add to my portfolio. It also challenged me to learn how to use the platform again. I can now use it and apply it in any direction I may choose to go in the future - both in education and other fields.
